Chexjc
Ever since a minor hit and run incident, which I suspect happened in a parking lot (didn't notice until I got home - medium-sized dent over rear left wheel), my 2000 S80 T6 randomnly displays a "NSTC Service Needed" message. What does this mean and how can I fix it?Thanks,Jason.
vegasjetskier
I don't know about NSTC, but STC stands for Stability Traction Control and DSTC stands for Dynamic Stability and Traction Control.

I guess it doesn't appear frequently enough for me to know what I'm talking about.
Chexjc
Thanks by the way, that has made my search results quite a bit more effective, haha.
vegasjetskier
Well according to the manual this warning might show if one of the brakes has been too hot. But, I can't see how a small fender dent would heat up your brakes. You might pull the wheels and take a look to see if one of the brake pads has been hanging up, and make sure that all the ABS wires are still intact. Also, the manual says to take it to the dealer to have it checked out if it persists.
Ihatespeedbumps
You need to have the actual codes read from the ABS module, but I would guess the message is not related to the accident, rather you have an ABS module that is on the way out. fightinchunk
so what does the message say, DSTC or TRACS? I ge the DSTC message almost everytime I drive... but I just end up turning it off anyway. I originally thought it was one of the yaw sensors, but those checked out when teknicktion plugged my car into vadis. From what I've heard, you can actually send out these modules to get rebuilt for alot less than a whole new computer.
Chexjc
Thanks for the input guys. The message reads "DSTC Service Needed." It happens about every other time I drive.
smokin' T5M
Have the rear suspension inspected and make sure the toe arm in the back hasn't been bent. Also make sure that the DSTC sensor hasn't gotten water damage. The sunroof drains can leak and damage the DSTC unit under the R/F seat.

My sunroof did shatter, or rupture I should say last summer. I covered it with a tarp when it rained until it was fixed though, haha.
