9883
Why did this happen? Should I toss them all? I was following the specs printed by Volvo in the owner's manual.

DonutsDemise
hmmm, that would worry me enough to go to the bolts at least on the front axle. i guess you have to at least take that converter off.
9883
ok. I know now why this happened. There is a defect in the thread that does not allow the stud to thread fully into the lug nut. It forces the nut to stop threading before the correct torque spec is reached. It was stuck and the nut was not able to make a closer contact with the wheel. When I put more force it did not tighten but rather snapped.

matt b
If they did not hold up to 81 lbs/ft, you might want to start worrying.

Yeah thats not grade correct hardware. If it were, the hub would have stripped before that happened. Even a mis cut thread would only do that if installed with an impact driver. 9883
What options are there? Found only one place to get studs for volvo? There is some vendor that I have seen mentioned on here but people had problems with those also. As far as quality of hardware is concerned it can't be all that great because the price was low but it has to meet some standards and be safe to use. I have about 40 spares now if you need a few, just let me know.
