Put another spring in there, sounds like it's not closing properly and leaking air. What codes are you getting ?

I didnt plug it in, but the check engine light does go on. Should I be feeling air coming out of the BOV when its closed?

Ben:

How is it installed ? Shoot me a pic, and I'll give you my cell number if you need to call me.

You should not be feeling air, that tells you it's not closed at all and that you either have no spring in there, or that it's stuck. You should be feeling nothing until it vents out.

(PS: this isn't cosmetic, this is maintenance or performance)

Heyyyyyyy there guys. I was working on his car yesterday and fixed a few other vac leaks. Started it up and felt the air coming out of the bov (it's intermitent btw) and knew that had to be the main problem why the car was running like @ss. To give further description of how it drives: If you roll realllly slowly onto the gas, it'll work fine, but you really can't put your foot in it at all. It won't hold boost, only 5psi if you're lucky. If you flick the gas pedal in neutral/park, the car chokes, then revs up. I'm not a master with bov's, but I'm pretty sure it's the spring that isn't closing the valve all the way at idle, and also not keeping it shut while under boost.

buy a forge dual piston valve!

when you say you didnt plug it in... i'm hoping your refering to a code reader, not to the BOV, cuz if its not plugged into a vac source it will open at any hint of boost

alright guys im going to tackle this BOV tonight. So I plan on putting a stiffer spring in, since the one now isnt closing all the way (its a brand new bov btw). Any other suggestions? Also, what do i do about the vacuum line that went to the block from the CBV valve?

You should have the CBV blanked off with a blanking plate and the CBV line running to the BOV. Capping the CBV will work however with nothing counteracting the pressure to the diaphram inside you may loose a pound or two when charging the system.

If your BOV goes south I highly recommend Samco's newer Dual Piston BOV, I know Gary has one for sale....they're really nice and the technology is well worth the money.

it should be plugged into your BOV, unless you used one of your spares on the vac tree, in which case, it needs to be capped off. what kind of BOV do you have anyways?

I have a Samco Sport from Gary, I put the blanketing plate on and plugged the BOV to the vacuum tree. The BOV doesnt close all the way and it rough idles and hesitates when on the gas. Im wondering what to do about the nipple on the engine do I keep it open or cap it?

Cap any unused spots.

The spring inside may just be worn out.....makes sense with everything you've mentioned about the issue. I know when I bought my Samco Dual Piston BOV it came with 2 springs of different thicknesses. Do you have any spare springs for it?
