Ghost Shadow
Well here i have it, a 1999 x/c awd with 156k, fixed 95% of the current problems it had. Now here's the problem. interior is shot, replacements are available to get a complete good interior. needs something in the rear. the shocks or something, bouncy as hell! anyone know what that is? car was rear ended so the back bumper is hanging. looked under there and the supports are bent a little.Don't know what to expect when the head comes off. Jippi 855 GLT
replace it.. when did you get an xc??
Ghost Shadow
replace it.. when did you get an xc??last week, since you guys are saying to replace it. Does a 2.4 non turbo motor work in a 2.4L GLT LPT car? That's the real big issue, head gasket parts are going to run $200-400 and the LPT motor is going to run ~$1000. there are alot of non turbo motors out there for $500. mbsl98
Don't know about technical aspects of motor swap, but do remember that the XC is pretty heave beast compared to the normally stripped down NA's. That would mean it will be even slower than they are (. For the rear, have you checked to see if you have Nivomat's or regular tube shocks? The Nivo's are thicker and have bellows, and are much more costly to replace. If regular shocks, probably just the shocks unless you are getting noises, in which case you may need upper shock mounts as well.
