He tried to pass me on an offramp. It was so bad it wasn't even funny. He hung an immediate right into the first driveway after getting beat.I bet he though he would trash that Volvo with his super modded car. Not that even if I was stock it would have mattered, but I love that you can't seen that my car has any go fast mods unless you pop the hood and look very closely behind the radiator. Dad just hits it and skates off. When i heard..i just laughed...too funny. There was also this one kid at my school who would brag about how volvos where old people cars and how his STOCK N/A 87 4cly daytona is sooo fast. I walked away from then like they were standing still, although the '98 Viper SRT-10 gave me the best run for my money. By 150, I had only 1 car-length on him. ChuckV986 Posted October 11, 2004 Report Share Posted October 11, 2004 Raced some GTI the other night, I thought he was substancially moded before I did or I wouldn't have bitten. I raced a Stage 3 1.8T the other night, and we were extremely evenly matched. I figured he'd pull on me given what the tuners rate those cars at hp/tq wise, but in an 80-140 roll I pulled about half a car on him, and an 80-125 roll left us DEAD even. This guy had an exhaust, a front mount, and a BOV. He pulled up next to me and kept getting on and off the gas to let me here the turbo. At about 50mph, I downshifted into 2nd, and he did the same. I pointed to him to go. Right after he got on it I did as well, and pulled about 5 lengths on him by 80mph.... Surprised me. At the next light, he pulled up next to me and started revving. Instead of taking off, I just saw how much gas is would take to hold right next to him as he was accelerating. Less than half throttle through 1st and 2nd. At the next light, he started revving again. This time I popped the revs up to about 2.5k and rapidly slipped the clutch as I layed into the gas. I heard him squealing his fronts next to me. I had about 2 bus lenths+ on him by 80mph.... My guess is it was a stock GTI with a front mount...god knows why.... and a cat-back. They run mid-low 15s in the low 90s stock, right?
