scandisk
I'm hoping an expert can help identify this part so that I can put it back where it rightfully belongs. It is a rubber part, approximately 1 & 1/4 inches in diameter, 3/4 inch high- thanks in advance all. I've attempted to upload 2 .jpg images but apparently haven't done that correctly- I can email them & appreciate any help.
vegasjetskier
It looks like a plug. Do you have any open holes in the body?
DonutsDemise
looks like plug that closes up the hole in the firewall where the would-be throttle cable passes through on 98s. could also be from any other hole in the chassis that has no function. the rubber thing simply serves as a seal. where did you find it? I looked under the hood & on the firewall, but didn't notice anything obvious- I have yet to lie down & inspect underneath the engine/Trans. Any idea of the most commonly lost ones? I found the part under the front bumper & assume it had fallen out of the engine compartment/firewall area. JVC
Plug for the doors, like where the wires run through? check in all the door jambs etc. you might find it there, that looks sorta most familiar...
DonutsDemise
it's no big deal, if it fell out it probably won't stay in when you put it back... look to the left of the brake booster towards the center of the firewall to see if there is a hole in it without a plug. that or near doors

Guest louzanit
It's a body/chasis plug. I know that because one fell off the bottom of my wife's 2005 XC90 ... and I only know that because her passenger side floor mat is now soaked after driving this weekend in the rain, which would have been prevented from entering the cabin had the plug not fallen out!!!
