I'm hoping an expert can help identify this part so that I can put it back where it rightfully belongs. It is a rubber part, approximately 1 & 1/4 inches in diameter, 3/4 inch high- thanks in advance all. I've attempted to upload 2 .jpg images but apparently haven't done that correctly- I can email them & appreciate any help.

It looks like a plug. Do you have any open holes in the body?

Thanks for your response. I looked under the hood & on the firewall, but didn't notice anything obvious- I have yet to lie down & inspect underneath the engine/Trans.

to me it looks like a drain hole plug there are about 100 of them on the car

have fun

OK, thanks. Any idea of the most commonly lost ones? I found the part under the front bumper & assume it had fallen out of the engine compartment/firewall area.

Plug for the doors, like where the wires run through? check in all the door jambs etc. you might find it there, that looks sorta most familiar...

It's a body/chasis plug. I know that because one fell off the bottom of my wife's 2005 XC90 ... and I only know that because her passenger side floor mat is now soaked after driving this weekend in the rain, which would have been prevented from entering the cabin had the plug not fallen out!!!
