This used to happen once in awhile, but now after about 20 tries the drivers side won't open.Any ideas?pull the release. Go to the driver side of the hood and lift up on it right above the headlight. Then pull the release again. I have the same problme on my 98. Someone said once that the fix for it is getting larger rubber stoppers (The square rubber things attached to the under side of the hood) from a late model x70 but I just use my method for now... jazzyjeff
Worked! Thanksno prob. I have to do that about 75% of the time I pop my hood. I know there are adjustments on the actual latches but I havent messed with them for fear of making it worse. lol
Dan A
I know there are adjustments on the actual latches but I havent messed with them for fear of making it worse. lolThere are adjustments on the latches. I think it's just a couple of small torx bolts and it adjusts up or down. I have been meaning to adjust mine. Mine won't work the way you described, I usually wedge my wallet in between the headlight and hood to have some upward pressure when I hit the latch the second time. Once I forgot about putting my wallet away and drove around a couple miles before I remembered, still stuck there luckily!!
firepuma
you can also tighten the cable at the hood release handle, there's a plastic nut to turn, check out mattews volvo site, it's on there.

SwedeRacer
Get used to playing that game.. my hood will open correctly 1 out of 10 times. The other times I usually have to do the method mentioned in the first reply. Though I will try some of those fixing methods also.
cn90
I am afraid the above answers will NOT fix your problem.I posted the tips here, basically 10-mm bolts on the SIDE latches. Post #5:http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?s...cn90+latch+hoodGauranteed will work.
