Vertigo V70R
REALLY not looking to sell it... but its expensive to repair... Prohibitively expensive actually... like 2KIts mint in and out. Has a fair amount of upgrades, such as "stealth 15" sub, Eclipse dvd/touchscreen NAV etc (double din), K/N filter, custom dual exhaust system, 5% windows, HID headlights, NEW driveshaft, 75% left on tires. Car is immaculate. 117k miles. Blew the head gasket and am thinking about selling it... Any ideas of what I should ask for? What is it even worth in current state? It will start and run (badly)PICS: http://s37.photobucket.com/albums/e72/VertigoRT/mindy/ It would be for sale in Florida, Tampa specificaly. If anyone could maybe get me a better price on fixing the head gasket, Id be happy too! Id MUCH rather keep it... but it currently is just sitting and it makes me feel terrible for it. Chilled man
Wow... thats like... worth even less than a GLT with a blown head gasket... whys that?YOu need a head at minimum or a full engine. thats what its worth to me what its really worth ? who knows could be even less. on here you wont get much for a car with a blown headgasket since most cant fix it. figure just parts alone ? $600 and thats for a 98 not sure how much for a VVT head . I think CJ had one for $700+ and you still need to included labor. I almost bought a GLT with a blown turbo for $800 with 150k on it . and a green XC here for $350 with 170k on it with a blown head gasket
Ghost Shadow
bought my XC with a blown head for $600. 99+ engine are very hard to find. when you find a decent one it'll be in the 1,000's for it. it's most likely you'll get under 1k for it complete, more if you parted it. swap the engine yourself, it'll take you a weekend. (n)A-GAME
with that mod list I'd say part out the goodies first, then sell it as a complete car. Just my .02...
Vertigo V70R
So this thing will end up costing way more than it would be worth to repair?

supra_stephe
You can use the old block and head, Maybe. It would depend on how warped everything is. You can get the head decked and use a metal headgasket. With this use can be raising the compression, or lower it (thicker metal head gasket). This brings me to my second point. This would be the time to actually do some performance mods to the car. Like build the bottom end and get the exhaust side ported and a valve job (or new big valves). Then save your pennies and get a new turbo later on. But the bottom line, it will run you but people sell cheap motors on here regularly (somebody have an 850r 2.3 for like $450, just get that swap it good to go, get the tranny, loose the lame awd and swap to a 5-spd. NWC70
Sounds like the perfect time to put on a ported/polished head on.
Ghost Shadow
Sounds like the perfect time to put on a ported/polished head on.sound like the beginning of a money pit. it's either get nothing for the car, or invest everything and it becomes the $10k v70r with 100k on it. Dan A
Sorry to hear about the issue. I'd fix it myself if it were me. Hit me up with a PM if you decide to sell.
CHARGER69O1
Sorry to hear about the head gasket. If you can fix it yourself, if not sell it as is and cut your losses. :(
