Hoosier Daddy
if it's an R ecu it will have the numbers 628 at the end of the long bosch serial number. the standard 850 turbo ecu ends in

I'm talking about T5R only made in 95 and 96-97 850 R, not T5.

Or does boost comin alot earlier? With the stock turbo tune, my car is really lazy until its movin.

In any case, you should be able to improve responsiveness by tightening the actuator arm a couple of turns. If you search around there should be some posts detailing how this is done.In terms of ECU differences, it might just be a boost difference, but I suspect the ignition timing is a little bit more aggressive on the R cars as well. Keep in mind that the R cars in every other market got bigger injectors and a more efficient turbo.
