2000 Lpt Stock Boost Level...

Hello everyone,

I have a 2000 S70 AWD, 121k miles, totally stock except the measly K&N element and boost gauge. I am only reaching 6 psi under full throttle, but many are telling me it should go closer to 8 (IPD is one of them that says 8 psi stock). I know of some who have 1998 and back LPT models with Motronic 4.4, but I am curious about the ME7 LPT models. I don't want to spend a lot of time or money replacing parts when this may be normal for this car. Car has brand new OEM TCV (IPD's HD TCV made it worse), new CBV diaphragm, and new vacuum hoses. Intercooler hoses are stock, but I see no leaks there. I posted this a while back on SS, but got no real help there. Hopefully someone here has a stock 70 series LPT (with ME7, of course :D ) and can shed some light on this.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Yeah...I have a 2000 V70 GLT and before mods I was boosting 6 maybe 7 PSI and this was after new hoses(stage 0). Now I boost 16-17 PSI...

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I am considering silicone intercooler hoses, but I hate to spend the money if they won't help. That's what you're sayin', right? That your car was full stage 0 and only did what mine does??

Thanks,

Joe

When i first get on it it goes up to about 7-8 PSI then goes down to about 5-6 PSI towards the end of the gear then spikes back to about 8-9 PSI between shifts. I'm kinda worried about it fading down, not sure if that is normal.

That sounds pretty normal. I would invest in the silicon hoses anyway. Its going to save you some trouble down the road.

Before my mods and full stage zero i was boosting 5-6, after silicone hoses I saw a noticable decrease in high RPM fade as well as an extra pound of boost normally. They are certainly worth the effort and money.

Welcome to vs Joe.You can get a good deal from stylinmotors.com, they are vendors on the forum and you also get a discount if your a vs member, more if your a supporting member, like $10 for 6 months. Changing to silicone vac lines makes a huge improvement on older cars with rubber lines as they tend to crack and deteriorate. Mine were pretty much OK, except for one line and they look so pretty. The kit suggested for the s60 is the s70 basic kit which goes for about 50 bucks minus the vs discount. PM stylinmotors if ya interested.

Hello again everyone,

Thanks for all of the replies. I do have the silicone vacuum hoses from IPD, just not the intercooler plumbing. I know the spec is supposed to be 8 psi, but I was curious to see how many got there with a stock ME7 LPT car. Sounds weird, but I don't really drive the car that hard. It pulls real hard even @ 6 psi, plenty of power for what I do with it. It's just bugging me that it could be higher, that's all :D...

Thanks,

Joe

Sorry Joe, I misread that u had silicone hoses. I recently got my wastegate adjusted and the car is driving brilliantly and pulling much higher and i also had a problem with the IPD tcv also, not going past 7psi. Maybe check to see when the wastegate opens, anyone know the value for his car?

Hello again,

Thanks for the insight. I do have the wastegate actuator set to 3 psi, 1.8 or so being the stock baseline for the B5244T. I don't know what else to try, other than silicone intercooler hoses. I don't think they leak though, but @ 121k miles, I suppose it's possible...

Thanks,

Joe

I have a basically stock "stage 0'd" V70 GLT. All my vac lines are new rubber. (didn't have time to grab Si lines at the time...) I still have a couple the original intercooler elbows.

When I reset the system (clear codes) my car boosts to 7psi. After a couple weeks of driving boost falls to 5-6psi. (O2 sensor codes, just don't have time to get under the car...)

Another interesting detail (common with e-throttle) is max boost is attained at 3/4 throttle. If I mash go-pedal I drop to 5psi no matter the gear.

It makes sense that all silicon connectors and vac lines would hold higher boost as they do not expand like rubber. I will be changing over as soon as time and money are on my side...

Hope this helps.
