troyhyde
If the car is clean - buy it. Negotiate a few bucks off the price. Could be something very minor. I would argue that a clean example of an R car is worth rebuilding and/or repairing.Avoid it if it is shredded from top to bottom. The last T5 I bought had a "blown engine" which turned out to be a clogged PCV, ripped turbo hose, and broken idle air motor hose. The car is one of the faster T5's here. 140k is not necessarily going to give you a worn out engine. On the contrary, many of these cars are still showing good compression at this level.Have fun. 850 R power
well that's what i meaned with the last post i made.because there never were many of these cars around, they've become even rarer,so there is a strong demand(in certain circles). if it looks ok you should buy it(after a good check)greets
KlausC
There is the CEL. I wonder what that is for. A turbo problem won't set it off unless it is a misfire. The turbo oil return line is an easy gasket fix. Lots of oil in the intercooler lines indicates and internal oil seal in the turbo is leaking. Mine has leaked at 105K and is still leaking today at 155K.Replacing the turbo is not difficult and may not need to be done.Go ahead and start the engine. Make sure all of the intercooler lines are tight, especially at the throttle body. Because you can DIY, buy it.
