Previous owner of my T5 polished the trim that runs up the side of the a pillar next to the windshield. Mine looks like chrome and doesn't suit the car, so I want to remove it and paint it.How is it fixed - will it pop off?Matt Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
prasamin Posted October 22, 2008 Report Share Posted October 22, 2008 it's just held on by clips....gently lift up small section at a time as to not bend it back....the trim is flexible so it'll bend and stay that way lol...but yeah, start at the bottom of the windshield where the triangular rubber piece is, and get under there and start pulling up gently. mbsl98 Posted October 22, 2008 Report Share Posted October 22, 2008 If you have any salvage yards near you, try them for the trim from a '98-2000 x70. Direct swap, and you get the nice rain diverters built into the newer ones, and the finish seems to last much better than teh 850 strips. These are pretty hard to ship, so best to find ones locally.
