theunderlord
After reading the Bay 13 installation procedure it seems as if you're hosed if you want to use the switch on an aftermarket deck. Anyone have any ideas?
550
why?? Just hook a switch inline with the black cable comming from the harness.
theunderlord
why?? Just hook a switch inline with the black cable comming from the harness.←The bay 13 install seemed to show it like a plug and play. I guess I'd have to really get a good look at it to figure it out. Has anyone done the switch with a non-volvo HU?
PyROZen
from what i understand, the antenna up & down switch doesn't connect to the HU unless you connect them. just leave the antenna wire on your HU disconnected and you should be able to contol it with the switch. when i say antenna wire i mean a small wire, not the thick black one that you actually plug the antenna into. 550
yeah you just splice the wire(black) in the harnes, and run a switch inline

What kind of radio reception do you get with the FM and the antenna down?Has anyone actually done the switch and an aftermarket deck? I totally believe you guys that it'll work.. I just want to see if anyone can point out any pitfalls. thanks again.
550
I usually got shitty reception actually i could tell when the antenna went down all the way hehe it was like static to the max. But it is nice if you are just listening to cd's or something I mean, it is kinda nice for car washes to so you can keep the antenna down while listneing to a cd in the car wash. That is about it I guess, it is kinda nice to have I guess, I wish I had it every now and then. personal preference I guess

I thought the whole purpose of the Antenna switch was to not have the antenna up cause it looked dumb. My car already pulls the antenna down when the HU switches to cd player. Sorry to waste everyones time. ;)
550
hmm, ya know I didnt think abiout that but mine does that too hehe, anyways nah dude its cool, the only way to know something you dont already know is to ask questions. If you wanna do awaywith the antenna, you might wanna try one you can bury in the car, or a piece of wiere along the window or something might work, I agree I hate the look of the antenna and all. I hate the antenna on the S70.... it's like 8 feet tall and looks so lame. When I pass other S70's, I think to myself, "dam, I gotta put a cd in." Kibim
My antenna is broken, so it's stuck up or down ... and as sad as it looks up, i keep it up 'cause otherwise reception is too bad to listen to.
550
anitanium Yeah for some reason if the antenna goes all the way down for me the reception just goes out the door, like it was never even there.
