Abs Module Out=car Acting Odd

Volvo Virgin

Recommended Posts

I have my ABS unit out to Vic for a rebuild and all of a sudden I am tailgating people and hitting the brakes way too late at stops. Car seems to have much less rolling resistance than it ever did before, and coasts much more freely when my foot is off the gas. My guess is the torque converter isn't locking up the same as it did before without the unit in. But honestly I'd like it better once I got used to it. Gas mileage is probably better.

Just had to share. That is all!

if you remove the brake pads the rolling resistance will be even less.

(heads out to give it a try)

i though i heard somewhere that the auto transmission applies a resistance when you let off the gas at highway speeds and lets you coast when you let off at normal city street speed. since you abs can no longer tell the car how fast its going i guess you always get the coasting feature.

This seems to be really noticeable around town at speeds of 15-45MPH.
