jschaefer7406
Hello everyone,First off, thanks to all who replied to my "Stylin vs. Samco" thread. I think I'm going to order the Stylin hoses, they seem to be the way to go (no offense to Samco, as they seem very good as well). Just one more question though...How many on here actually saw an improvement in boost pressure once the silicone hoses were installed? I have 121k miles on my S70 (2000 AWD), none of the hoses leak to my knowledge (not to say they don't, just not that I know of ). I am only hitting 6 psi now, with a full stage 0 (other than these intercooler hoses). I'd love to get to the full 8 psi that I have heard is stock. Anyway, before I drop $175 on a set of hoses, I'm just curious to see what the concensus is on the life span of the factory hoses...Thanks in advance,Joe
Leo850T5
if one of your old hoses are torn, dry rotted or leaking then yea, you will feel a differencei did, one of mine was in pretty bad shape, i replaced all of them and i noticed much better engine response and more boost! wmartinlsmith
i can attest that most will raise there hand and say ai!... now to the fact that if you are loosing boost how do you know? are you running a gauge to get a base line? most cases can be solved by the fact that the main manifold hose is the one to go first for some odd reason..but factory life span has been met.. rubber usually last about 6 years at the max.. so give it a shot. its well worth the $$$

Yeah, I do have a VDO boost gauge, only hitting 6 psi max. The IPD TCV made it even worse, so the car now has a fresh OEM TCV installed (to rule that out). My car (being ME7) has the plastic throttle body hose, and a rubber coupler at the intercooler. Thanks,Joe
the commissar!
My originals were/are still good at nine + years but she seemed tighter when I switched to silicone w/rip(IPD). Of course it was gently driven for those years. Worth the $. Got them on coolant lines too (Samco)...and vacs(stylin).

Personally think if you are not running higher that stock boost you may be wasting your money. There are many, many places that you can be leaking boost pressure: PCV lines, IAC hose, numerous vac elbows, hard vac lines, turbo vac lines, vac tree nipples, intercooler, etc. so I would start with all the cheap things first and leave the stylin intercooler lines for last. EDIT: I know you said you did a full stage zero but that varies a little from car to car so just make sure you got all those elbows and make sure everything is clamped on really tight. The Snaky hose from the IAC can Leak, you could easily loose 2 psi there. Also have you checked youre wastegate to make sure it's closing fully? (another pesky thing that will bleed off boost pressure)

Your hoses at their age are most likely ballooning, and maybe leaking minamally. With new hoses the air flow will be more concentrated and direct giving you more boost. Chilled man
Runing 20psi and yes they make a huge difference and also make your engine bay sexy

randomdude
i saw an incread because on one at the TB had a tear and the one on top of the intercooler was so weak that it was collapsing flat under boost, lol.

jschaefer7406
Hello all,Thanks for the replies. As for silicone vacuum lines, I do have IPD's already installed. Being a 2000 with ME7, I do not have a vacuum tree or IAC hoses. I have already replaced every vacuum/boost line that comes to mind (also did the CBV diaphragm), and still only see 6 psi. I guess to re-word my main question, how many have seen these leak at this mileage (121k)?Thanks again,Joe
--Aaron--
Before I replaced mine at 125Kish I blew a hole in the one between the upper hard pipe and the hard pipe going to the lower I/C elbow. The throttle body elbow and top I/C elbow were horrible as well.

I have a 2001 one, rubber may be getting old as you guys say but i have to check them properly first. The boost is great (car is chipped to 300 hp with BSR stage 1) but not very impressive till 3000 rpm (i know, big turbo, but still... if i can do anything i'd give it a try)If there is no kit for this car what should i do?Thanks for any opinion!Cheers!
