Yeah. I've ordered replacement wheel bearings, control arms, and end links. They should be here Thursday.

I'll be posting pics.

Of course the sound is still there. I'm going to try a few other things with the car later this evening.

I had the EXACT same issue a while back, almost always while backing up and turning like getting out of my driveway, right before i came to a full stop to put it in drive, "dung." I replaced my front suspension (struts, strut mounts, spring seats and all new bolts and hardware) and that coupled with Tom's HD endlinks i put on a few months before took care of it. I had the control arm done on that side as well, but the clunk didn't go away until i did the suspension.

I don't remember if you said so but did you use new bolts or did you just reuse the old ones?

Nope, all new bolts with the parts. All the Volvo parts came with new bolts. And all the struts came with new bolts too. The only parts I reused in the suspension were the rubber accordion dust boots, the rubber bump stops, the rummber bump top at the top of the strut tower, the cross bolt and the springs. Everything else is new.

This problem is SO tiny, only does it once or twice a day, but it drives me crazy knowing that it's there, it's something that shouldn't be there, and I know I can fix it if I knew what it was.

I replaced my spring seats and strut moutns and it went away... then it came back 4 months later :(

Dave when I first replaced everything that stupid cross bolt under the rubber bump stop at the top of the strut tower came loose. I tightened it, and it cured a rattle. Double check yours. If there's ANY play between the rubber spring seat and that cross bolt, the cross bolt is loose.

I can't wait to fix this.

I'm having the same issue with hearing the "clunck" at my right front corner while reversing and turning left going down my driveway just before I stop. My guess is a bad endlink. I just received my pair of OEM from Groton and will replace it this weekend sometime. Will let you know if it cured it or not.

I'll report if the new endlinks fixed my issue. I was thinking it sounds a lot like metal against rubber creaking sound. SO I thought, HMMM Maybe the spring against the spring seat? So when I replace the wheel bearing and control arm, I'm going to check out the spring against the spring seat possibility

Mine sort of sounds like metal on metal which is why my first guess would be the endlinks. They have that weird Hiem joint on both ends which could go bad. Also, many here have said that these fail quite often. Hummm, maybe I should have gotten the IPD HD ones instead....

HEY DAVIT So I get home from work and decide to take pics of that cross bolt. AND to make sure it's still tight. WELL. It wasn't tight, but snug.

SO I removed everything, cleaned up the threads, got my tools and made sure it'd never back out on its own again.

This was the reason why I was having suspension rattles over bumps. But this didn't fix my current noise. So double check yours. It may be loose.
