Evap Dtc 3-1-5

So i got a DTC a while back and ran up to my mechanic's shop to read the code. Pulled 3-1-5, made sure my gas cap was on tight and cleared it, but the code eventually came back like a week later. So I did some research on VADIS and the first thing i checked was the canister purge valve, hooked it up to a hand held vac pump as per VADIS instructions and it wasn't holding vacuum that well. I accidently knocked the valve against the kitchen counter and it started holding vacuum better, which gave me an idea that it was just crudded up inside, so i cleaned it out with carb cleaner and voila it was holding 30 in hg like a champ!!! put it back in, code was still there but i figured i'd just get it cleared when i went up there for my service the following week.

Then I had the car up on jack stands while i was painting my calipers (they look stellar now BTW B) ) and i noticed that a rubber line by the gas tank was broken, it was the one next to (in board of) the line that runs through the fuel filter and I saw that was part of the EVAP system, so figured that also was responsible for throwing the code. Had my indy replace that line during my service last week (apparently they break often enough for them to keep it in stock) but for some reason he couldn't get the code to clear . He told me to wait a bit and see if it would just clear itself, but I haven't really been driving since i tore some ligaments in my right ankle this past weekend .

I've had some DTC's resolve themselves, and this might be one of them, but is there something I'm missing? It crossed my mind to disconnect the battery and maybe pull the ECU but that's never worked for me in the past. I suppose i could also swap out my ST ECU for my stock box, and then swap back after a bit if and when it clears.

I'm not terribly worried about it, more curious. He said that the reader wasn't even picking it up, but the light is still on. What would cause it not to clear?

Vacuum at idle is solid in case anyone is wondering.

Thanks guys!

I assume the code was not erased before so it (code) and the CEL (on) should remain. They do not clear on their own, even after repairing the problem. The codes needs to be read and cleared. If the problem is not repaired, the code and CEL remains. That's pretty much how it works.

Yeah i know. What i'm saying is that after they fixed that broken line, they couldn't clear the code. It no longer registered on the scan tool, so even tho the DTC light was on, the scan tool came up with no codes and therefore couldn't reset anything..... THAT's really what i'm wondering about.... sorry for the confusion
