Matts 850 GLT
HiI wrote last week saying my floor/def motor was bust but actually there is no response from any of the vent motors when I turn the centre knob. The temp motors both work and the recirc flap works but whenever I turn the centre knob there is not movement from any of the motors. Is the knob busted or is the the ecu? How do I test as the car has no way of telling me what codes are in thereThanksmatt

KlausC
1995 was the last year an owner could test the ECC unit. You will need a Volvo scanner, which you will have to PAY someone to check for codes AND let you know what they are. Not just the numbers.
randomdude
when this happened on mine it needed a new ECC unit :(

How about reset, can I disconnect the battery? If not it is getting ripped out and my old manual heater is getting thrown in.Matt
turbomoose
This has happened to me twice, years ago. I just disconnected the battery and everything returned to normal. Try that.
KlausC
I replaced my 1995 ECC with one from a junk yard. The JY ECC had multiple codes stored in it which had nothing to do with my car. I am afraid the ECC stores its own codes. You cannot replace an ECC with a manual unit. It will not work. Get yours scanned first and keep an eye out for one on Ebay or a JY, it needs to have the same numbers on the back as the one you already have in your car.
