jnderr
I noticed in the past week or so I've been losing coolant. Finally got under the car today to see where it was leaking from. It seems to be a fairly slow leak. I filled it up to max line on the coolant tank yesterday and its probably about an inch below that line now. One drip every 5 minutes or so. It is the bottom, passenger side of the radiator and does not appear to be leaking from the line that is connected there. But seems to be coming from where the black plastic on the end meets the metal.Judging from this pic is my radiator toast? Are there other steps I can take to further diagnose it?Thanks everyone in advance.
7 VII 7
ok, 1st of all... how old is your radiator?have you ever had it replaced?what color is the coolant that you put into your car?I had a similar leak and it happened when I screwed the upper radiator hose to the radiator too tight and separated the insides of the radiator from the plastic and metallooks like you might need a new one :(
jnderr
171k miles on the car. I bought it with 110k, I assume its the original. Have red coolant same as the drop you see there.

cn90
At your mileage of 170K miles, do all of these for the sake of safety:- Radiator- Radiator Hoses x2- Small hose to Reservoir- Reservoir- Thermostat

Tstat and ETC were done last year. Going to do a manual swap soon so I'll have the motor out any way should be a good time to do everything then provided the radiator can hold out for a while. lookforjoe
..I wouldn't wait... Murphy's law typically works predominantly on those who've been made aware, but chose to ignore the warning... the radiator may well be split higher up in the side tank - look under the upper hose & above the oil cooler line - and running down from there. If you leave it more than a few days, you're asking for serious problems. If the rad blows out on the road, you'll be looking at a much larger bill. You can get the rad online for around 125 - I just did one on my son's XC @ 189KAll OEM Parts, INc (Partsbin) VO3010105

FredMc
I have to replace my radiator this weekend, I didn't get an oem one. Question? any photos on how to do this correctly.I heard you have to bottom drop it out? And I will have new readiator hoses for the install, This is a S70 T5, 152K, runs good. But the drip is just where you guys said on the side of the upper radiator hose above the oil hose. Probably split on the seams of the radiator? Thanks
