Yeah, I was after that NAPA parts delivery job. You know, the one they give to the store managers retired 70 yr old father!

I'm psyched, we've got some work in some execs new house, classy home theater, surround sound in the family room, phone system, security panel and CCTV. Good stuff and good money!

I love rich people.

Working to find work. Just hit Power Ball and be done with it already!

Thats a whole different buffalo. Thats all about plumbing and power storage, transfer switching, and some interesting wiring. Outta my league. You want to run the whole house or just get hot water?

And have you looked into the cost + period of return on investment? The key is energy credits and subsidization for going green. I'd start looking thru govt dept's. They must list plans for tax rebates and approved contractors. I know it aint cheap, $20-30k, maybe.

I tell you, not a bad idea. I've got my own well for water, and propane tanks for heat, so I'm not hooked to the street. I just converted 9 zones of electric base board to this new hi efficiency burner. Real, safe non toxic, no ground seepage. Mostly water vapor comes out my stack. I used 35 gallon since 9/1/08, and I have 240 gallon tank. It's been a little warm out, but still at $2.50 a gallon I'm kicking ass and taking names with the T-stat at 65. And I got all my gear tax free, even my new A/C condensor. I took 4 window A/C units out and bought this new thing, and I saved a ton of cash on my electric. 2 stage fans on both the condensor and the AHU, makes all the difference. Wired the gear myself, saved a g-note.

I also added all E-Star appliances, DW, Fridge, WM. Low water use, low power use. That was my plan, spend the bucks, get green, save $ on electricity, and keep my water usage down. Plus I got stupid rebates from Loews for buying all one brand appliances. I mean like $500. Plus no sales tax.

Too much info, I know, but you raised an interesting subject. There are ways for capitalists to save the world, and keep the economy going!

Keep me informed on your progress, I have other folks interested in your idea.

yeah, i want to go off the grid, there's basically two set ups.

1. solar with batteries

2. solar and still wired in. if the power goes out, i'm also out.

the cost diff is pretty large because of the batteries.

they have net metering here so that covered.

there's a 2k fed tax credit but PA is still trying to figure out what it wants to offer.

i'm not doing it because i'm a tree hugger, i'm just cheap.

when we built our house i had the builder install a whole house fan. 36" that will pull your hat off if your near it. i love that thing until it gets to hot.

Tree hugging is a positive by-product.

Whats the total nut for the less expensive option?

JEEEZUS! I need to get back to work! Did you see how many threads I'm in. Holy crap. I need a life.

You guys will miss my early morning posts, I know it!

Yup, Ayers interview on ABC-GMA. After the election a few things have popped that got kept under the hat. Typical, truth always hurts. And he still is terrorist. He just got off on a technicality, and his buddy Liz Durden.

They could easily be in jail for murder.

20-30 the cheap

40+ w/batteries

WOW. Thats a high efficiency furnace, and a bunch of fuel. Insulation, new doors and windows. Thats a real commitment.

If you don't feed the kids 3 times a day, and sell yourself on Craigs List you could swing it!

the thought process is i'm currently more than doubling my car payments. 1200 a month. i'll be all paid up in Feb. i plan on rolling that 1200 a month into my home equity to pay off the solar. so in less than two years i'd have the solar paid off. if the solar runs me 25k

thats the plan at least.
