Mike, the key is not to think about retiring at your present standard of living.

Smaller house, less mouths to feed, lower auto insurance and gas bills.

I'm not kidding when I tell my wife we have a trailer reserved for our retirement home.

Gee, if only I was allowed to keep my SS money...I could have retired 5 yrs ago.

is this just recently that hes been trying to do this?

Not real recent, not real sure how long, more than a year at least, but in the past several months (?) more and more congressmen have gotten on board. That's from what I've read, anyway.

Yeah, he has been wanting this for some time. It started with Bush, so the Republicans wouldn't get near it last year, but of course with a Democrat in the White House now they are all for it now.

Last I saw, there weren't enough congressmen backing it to say that they are all for it now. And I haven't seen the Dem/Repub numbers with him. I think it's gained more momentum because of the way the financial bills were and are being pushed through, etc.

I am for it regardless of who is President. I never liked the way money was vanishing under Bush when it was suppose to go somewhere, or it was being spent on other things it wasn't intended to be.

I think the money vanishing was Cheney rerouting it to some black ops project. ph34r.gif

This is currently running the email circuit and is, AFAIK, fictional/a tad on the propaganda side, but nonetheless the main message is quite good.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before,

but had once failed an entire class.

--------------------------------------------

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK,

we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.

The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D!

No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering,

blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because, when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that

Seen it before, the bold type is the crux of the biscuit. It's about taking ownership.

Give folks a fish or teach them to fish?

Examples abound about public housing being turned over to the residents, crime and drug use goes down, property conditions and values improve.

God how I love the republicans...*sigh*. Almost as bad as the dems. But kudos the RP, probably the only guy in Washington I trust.

You mean projects that helped protect and keep this country safe! ... :D

Going back to the "Cash for Clunkers" program which is suppose to get gas guzzlers off the road; this obviously suppose to decrease the amount of gas we would use. But wasnt it just a little while ago that they were talking about taxing the driver per mile we drove with a GPS unit because we were using less gas as it was. Wont this program do more to exacerbate that problem? That thought popped into my head when I was reading an article just now.

It's about pumping cash into the auto industry. 51 of the 73 approved models are trucks. A Ford model (no bailout cash taken)is the leading seller in the program followed by 3 Toyota's and a Nissan.

Yeah, I realize that, it was a thought. But yeah the Ford Focus is in the lead right now. Although for cars that are being traded in, iirc 6 of the top 10 were various models of the Ford Explorer. No surprise there.

That is an assumpution since we will never know were the money went.

Sorta like the TARP program?

42 Czars. The new Green Czar Van Jones was arrested for rioting in LA after Rodney King verdict.

From Wiki: Jones was still a law student at Yale Law School at the time. While volunteering as a legal monitor during a peaceful protest following the Rodney King riots, Jones was arrested along with other legal monitors and some protesters. He and the other detainees were released no more than 4 hours after being illegally arrested and Jones was never convicted of a crime.

In the late 90s, Van Jones was involved in Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), a multi-racial activist collective with Marxist influences. While never large, STORM was an influential group in the Bay Area, working with numerous organizations including Bay Area Police Watch, School of Unity and Liberation (SOUL), and People Organized to Win Employment Rights (POWER). Jones and STORM were also active in the anti Iraq War demonstrations of the early 2000s

"Well, we still dont have a unified definition, and thats not unusual in a democracy. It takes a while for all the states and the federal government to come to some agreement. But the Department of Labor is working on it very diligently. Fundamentally, its getting there, but we havent crossed the finish line yet."

He presides over nothing, they are going to make it up as they go along.

Yale Law and a Marxist. Nice combo. Glad we get to approve of these folks appointments. Oh yeah, we don't.

Obama is going down. Pelosi too. Later than sooner.

If the White House calls these town hall protesters a Mob again...

Not like ACORN of course.
