I really need to know how to get this thing to snap in over the shift ball, cause the car isn't moving until it happens. I have tried hammers and lube, but those teeth just wont fit over the ball. 1998 S70 T5M White shifter coupler pn 3502504:

quit being a girl ;)

Now you are just making me feel unloved :(

WTF - what did you do  ??? I have a shifter assembly if you need to borrow it in the mean time till you get that figured out - can't reinstall the auto trans anymore... went away today - send cash tommorow

Shifting into first was real difficult, and figured it was probably a cable issue until melville noticed that the white coupler had a broken tab and the back side and was lifting up whenever I would shift into 1 or 2. So I ordered a new one, managed to get the old one out, but cant seem to get the new one in :( Danny is going to try and get it in tomorrow, but if not I might need to borrow yours and order a new one in the meantime :D

Just to clarify, its the white piece on the top. I have searched, and found that other people have broken many getting it installed, but I guess my question is weather or not I have to take the assembly out or can I do it with it in the car, and if so how?

I'll send it up in the morning in case you need it - if not just give it back to Danny :D

Thanks a million! I think I will owe you dinner when we finally get this swap polished up... and you havnt even seen it yet!

I ran a search and it seems that a lot of people have had trouble with the ball seat, going through 2-3 of them before getting it to install correctly without breaking during :monkey: Call Derek, I want my goodwill.

However, everyone has complained about it but not left me any instructions on how to do it so as to avoid their misery!

You can do it while the assembly is still bolted into the car! If your old one is off, just position it over the clips and apply very even pressure to snap it on. If you apply uneven pressure in either direction, the plastic clip will break on the over-pressured side. It takes a lot of force to snap it on, but not a lot to break it...

Use 2 hands and position yourself like you're doing CPR - straight elbows, straight back, directly over the shift assembly. Good luck!

Awesome, I need to give my car CPR <_< Thanks for the advise, for the most part I was pounding on one side instead of even pressure (which seems really hard to do). What PITA huh?
