ProjectT-5R
I tried this back in the day. I thought it was being held up by the dowel pins (which does happen) so I tryed to pull it in by torqueing the bolts and snapped part the to block right off! Luckly it was the part below the starter mounting and not too important so I just JB welded it back on and then did it the right way. Car still runs great! If he got it in all the way and it all turns he should be good, but lucky, if he ever has to do it again I should hope he does it the other way. Keaton85
Side note: If you are installing a tranny and engine together and they came from different cars. Always check to see if the dowel pins are only on one or the other. I was trying to get a tranny in and it just wouldn't go till I realized that the pins were in the engine block AND the tranny. anyway, I have to agree that if everything goes together smoothly that it shouldnt make a bit of difference. Since its just a double splin that is going into the TQ then if you rotate the engine while installing the tranny it should align just fine. BUT then again I wouldnt risk it on any tranny when it doesnt save any time doing it the correct way!Time will tell!
