Volvo Virgin
Just installed my rebuilt ABS unit from Vic. The battery was disconnected for a half our while I installed it and no all the idiot lights have cleared except the check engine light. What fuse do I pull to reset it without having to go to my indie?
HtownTurboBrick
CEL usually clears within minutes of having the battery off. It should have reset along with everything else.

Correct. the only code i've ever had clear by itself was spark/ignition related and even that surprised me. You can pull the ecu, disconnect the battery but the only way you're going to get that light off is by clearing the codes or pulling the bulb out of the dash I think autozone and such places have scan tools to reset your DTC's on the cheap if not for free, and if you're on good terms with your indie, i'll bet he'll charge you next to nothing if he charges you at all. 30 seconds of labor is hard to bill anyway ;)
Dan A
Your CEL is not likely because of the ABS module. Go to autozone and have them pull the codes and see why it's on.

When I replaced my abs unit everything cleared.(2001 V70 2.4T)
Volvo Virgin
Well here's the skinny on this, and thanks for those who responded whether you were on track or not. To be honest tho, I'm kind of disappointed at the lack responses to this thread knowing how many X70 members must have done this ABS repair exactly the same way. Good info seems to be harder and harder to find here with many too many threads/posts dedicated to bigger rims and pipe dreams of more horsepower. Anyway, enough rant!! The bottom line on this CEL was 2 codes, PO722 AND P1618, which both seemed to be related to different sensors managed by the ABS unit, and occurred when there was no signal from these sensors found by ODBII while the ABS unit was out of the car being repaired. Tho I pulled the ECU fuse and left the battery disconnected for quite some time, there are some codes that will not clear themselves by that method, apparently due to stored electricity in capacitors integrated in the OBDII system. A quick clearing of the codes by my indie and all has been fine for 4 days now.
