Oreo931
Replace them with new if you can afford to. Replacing these suckers with the engine in the car is a pain in the butt. Plus, its one less thing you will have to replace in the future.
NoodleKnight
Replace them if your budget allows. They're not cheap but mine started leaking at around 130k miles.
Keaton85
Replace that PCV system while your at it too... and the RMS.Pretty much any junk yard will rip and tear everything put the motor apart so dont expect any less. The only yard I really like dealing with since most engines are taken out carefully is LKQ. They are awesome when it comes to engines!

They are awesome when it comes to engines!Thats why I only buy engines in person since they are pricey, you can look at the speedo as well and know the true mileage, plus you can watch them pull and make sure they do it correctly. I have seen some places just drop them on concrete and sell, haha.
troyhyde
My local yard will compression test if you know them fairly well and ask nicely. I checked through a few engines before finding a good compression 2.3L T-5 (175-180 across all cylinders). Some of the other engines obviously were in questionable condition. (175, 170, 145, 165, 115 compression, etc...) These engines are being sold to the public all the time because most people don't ask for (don't care about?) any compression numbers. I'm sure sitting in a junkyard can cause sticky valves, dry cylinder walls, etc... but there is definitely some risk in an untested engine, even with reasonable mileage on the car.In the old school junkyards where everyones IQ is below 90, the sawzall is considered the best tool in the box. A good yard will extract in a way to preserve everything...
Keaton85
They just mess up so many good parts, like cutting sensor wires, hoses, cracking parts right off... the list goes on!
axelm
They just mess up so many good parts, like cutting sensor wires, hoses, cracking parts right off... the list goes on!I wish I could import those parts for pennies into my country. Volvo parts are a rip off here, about 4x USA price. How about a radiator for USD 820??
r850glt
Why Not take used hose to a Hydraulic hose rebuiler ?
