Keaton85
I guess it's different outside of the USA since its a lot more expensive! As for the hose routing, the intake hose goes to the MIDDLE hole. There should not be a single debate on this! Also NO hose CLAMPS on the lowest hose that has the metal surrounding it!I am the number one guy to not pay something that I dont need! for an example, my GFs 98 XC that we just bought needed the PCV system really really bad. Neither of use have the funds to put into the car but this and the timing belt are two things I don't mess with! It's all or nothing. Maybe if it was my beater car I would rig up some system just to see what happens but I dont have a beater yet!
ACiancio
Would a rubber hose be strong enough to use in place of the plastic pipe.

If you block off the PTC valve then and there is no direct vacuum leak you should be fine for a bit. Just dont run this for to long.

Keaton85
and what does that do?I couldnt tell ya.. All I know is that it doesnt throw a CEL when its unplugged It's probably to just keep things flowing or to keep the condensation from turning to ice in that small area but I'm not 100%
AlvinL
and what does that do?The running engine sucks in cold air through the intake and if the crankcase fumes containing oil is not kept warm as it comes into the intake mixing with the cold air, the oil in the fumes will coagulate, clog and risk blocking the PCV at that spot.Ever seen the chocolate milky goo around dipstick tube or oil cap during th winter months?
