Engine Swap

So hey.

I was driving along and thinking about this earlier... Would it be possible to swap the T5 motor out of a 2000/2001 V70R (I believe this is the one with the blue top and the 19T) into the bay of my T5-R?

I know this might be rudimentary, but I don't know the motors well enough to know whether or not there are differences which would prevent this.

Thanks in advance! :)

my understanding .....

you will have to use the head off your car and you could use the bottome end on R engine.

since the top end has the VVT where yours doenst.

but the bottome end on all the engines shoudl tech bolt up since they all bolt up to the same trannys.

I was thinking of the same thing ................ just finding the bottome end fo the engine cheap is the hard part

Yeah, got to wondering... Figured it could be another way around doing the whole 19T bit.

... Assuming you were so inclined, would it be possible, even with some minor shit, to just drop the whole bitch in?

It shoudl just drop right in .

If I cold find a cheap bottom end I have enough used heads here I could give it a go

Yeah, I was thinking about it. For whatever reason I got on that "dear god what would I do if my motor went" train of thought, and had decided on "find a wrecked R motor w/ 19t" or "find someone selling one", and then just mating the correct ECU to it.

... And yet, I don't think it'd be that simple :(

the tranny bolts right up from 93-07 so that side is taken care of

its just the top end and since the engien in a 99 is the same size and what not of a 07 why shoudlnt it ?

it think it would come down to how the coolant lines are run and such in the block but from what I can tell from my 98 to the wifes 01 there isnt any differences from the outside that stand out.

? who knows

I'd be interested in looking into it assuming the worst case scenario arrived. I'm sure I just jinxed myself , but if I could do it it'd be more than worth it to me. I'd rather pay a bit more for the entire engine/turbo/ecu and have them all be built in unison than get another of the same motor I'm running and try to source together the 19t and all the other necessary accoutrement, haha.

would have to get our ECU retuned

I'd try to find the ECU from one as well... unless that wouldn't be possible. Ideally, the idea would be the engine/ecu are straight V70R; essentially just have the engine bay of a V70R in der 850

99 and newer ecu are married to the car .

and it woulldnt work with your 850 different motrinic and all that jazz
