Get in one and close the doors and see how cheap it feels. You'll be like this is a volvo? and 160HP is weak. They felt that the safety was not up to par and so the GEN 2 S40 and V50 were built on the Volvo P1 platform. And the availability of a T5 makes the Gen 2 pretty sexy actually. I knew there was something up with them...So, when's the 2nd gen S40 start? What model year? (Not that'd I'd want an S40. I like S60/S80 sized cars, personally. My Aunt gave it to them 'cause she didn't like it and she wanted a new car! Anyway, the thing only has like 40k miles on it 'cause they hardly drive it, but it was making these horrible "bang" noises whenever they'd go around a turn. They took it to the dealer like 3 times and then kept telling them they couldn't find anything. Eventually, my Aunt went to pick it up and basically told them she wasn't leaving until they fixed it. She got one of the managers to drive it with her, and when he heard it, it made sure those mechanics found the problem! Turns out all of the motor mounts had rusted through. (And, no, I wasn't kidding when I said this car has like 40k miles on it...)Basically, they must all be Ford POS.... They just don't seem like any other volvo in build and design. I'm sure that you can find ones that are fairly reliable as exampled by Hussein.
