Transmission Shifts "too Smoothly" When Cold

I've replaced the transmission fluid with generic ATF Dex III twice using the drain/fill method over the summer. I never noticed any soft shifting but today the car sat outside for 2 days and when I drove it out of the parking lot it had a really soft 1-2 shift, not a deliberate shift, but a bit prolonged. I noticed the same type of shift after putting Lucas in it, but not to this effect. Most of the Lucas is now out after the drain/refill and the temp was around 35F/2C today and below freezing last night.

Thoughts on this? Anyone experienced it? After warming up about 30 seconds it was normal, in fact it almost was the first shift that did it and only then. I've had issues with the tranny, it used to drop into neutral and slip while still in Drive, but after doing a few drain/refills everything was pretty much normal for the last couple thousand miles, but this is the first time with newer fluid and cold weather in it.

the fluid thickened up over the time you let it sit i have that every time i start my car out here in Colorado you have to let it warm up and drive slow for a min or two then it will fix itself

OK good to know it's not my tranny :o:) Thanks for the feedback

I was thinking the same thing, actually now that I am thinking about it I think I might of included a quart of Lucas in my last drain and fill and that stuff is a lot thicker than normal ATF so that's probably why it is "slower" than normal for that first shift.
