bmx9854
I am intent on purchasing some kind of recaro, probably recaro, type seat for my 850. I would like to see some pics of brackets either made or that can be bought. I know there is a lot of confusion with s70 seat brackets for 1998 and I was wondering if anyone has actually tested and found whether or not they are the same. If they are the same as the 850, I believe Recaro offers a mount which would be quite convenient.

TorqueSteer
No ideas on the compatiblity between S70 and 850 brackets?Im pretty sure they are different for the 99's and up, 98 may be the same, but I did my seats 2 years ago and cant remember. I used steel beams and grade 8 bolts to make my own brackets.
randomdude
i was gonna make a thread about this since the search engine brought nothing. thanks for saving me the time, lol. it seems you have to make your own brackets from what ive gathered. it would be so sweet to get them mounted to the electric bracketry. but maybe you could make the seats a bit lower if you made your own. JAXX- why not mount to the floor?

Jaxx
JAXX- why not mount to the floor? It's cool if you don't like walking. has to do with spinal compression when you're in an accident. instead of restraining you, it pushes you down from what I understand.basically, it will break your back in any decent accident. randomdude
^so do you want the mounting points closer or farther away from the seats?

TorqueSteer
^so do you want the mounting points closer or farther away from the seats? The professional setups with a full roll cage will have a harness bar which is right behind the seat. The belt then straps to the harness bar. Im using the rear passenger (on the drivers side) seat belt mounting point for my harness. I showed the setup to an insurance accident / safety investigator who also partakes in SCCA racing, and he said it was ok.
