wheelsup
Hi guys I'm looking to get a torx set for Xmas, the standard stuff T10 or so thru T45 will work for my 850 and future 70 series I would assume, but I'm also wondering about the timing belt torx as well as just general quality. I don't want to strip any of those bolts!I saw some from Sears, Lisle's 12 set piece on sale from $32 for $16, but was worried about quality as some research I've done has said they aren't that great. Right now I've actually used a set that came in a cheapo screwdriver set but I want something a bit easier to use without having to put the bit in a 12 point socket and tape it in !! So far it's held up great though, even removed the thermostat bolts without stripping. In hand I've got a 9 pc set from Harbor Freight Tools that does have a lifetime warranty on them but...it's Harbor Freight, so...Also saw this set which includes a T45 would that bit fit into the engine compartment to remove the timing belt tensioner pulley on a craftsman 3/8" wrench anyone know? What do you guys use to remove that T45 bolt? My indy said he uses a 1/4" T45 my guess is like this one...thoughts?-matt
Rsterns
I ended up buying both an internal torx as well as an external torx set in 3/8 drive, very handy. You may want to pick up an external T5 to cover removal of your ABS module should the need arise. Craftsman, TDK, MAC, Snap-On are all good brands with good warranties. I’ve also purchased some of the ‘power-built’ (might not be the name) house brand from Kragen, they seem to last and also have a good warranty. Unless your wrenching every day for a living, I doughty that you would ware any of these out. Most tool breakage is due to misuse.

johnloves850's
in regards to the post above this one...the screwdriver set is cool, but you will also need the socket typeyou are not always going to have a torx bolt in an area where you can get at it easilya socket set is a few bucks from walmart with a lifetime warrantybut having a screwdriver set is definitely handy as well

Never had a need for bits. And unlike others I have never ruined a thermostat bolt :P
Aequitas_Veritas
but what kind are they/where can you get them?
Che'_Moderator
but what kind are they/where can you get them?Their Beta. Procare sells them. As far as tool I would rate beta as hands down the best wrenches and torque sets. Their sockets are on par with mack/snap on. Their Torx sets are weird. The handles are so so but the bits them selves are godlike.

If they're a Christmas gift though, you might want to go for Craftsman or some other respectable brand. I got a decent set made by Chicago and they've lasted a few years now with some HEAVY usage.
