Ok so my hid's I ordered from DDM are out for delivery now 12/24/08 ordered on 12/09/08. Now I was looking over at sharphid's installation guide on there website http://sharphid.com/installation/Volvo850svc70.htm I just want to make sure if this is the way you all went about installing your kits. The installation looks very simple but it mentions something about cutting on line #4... 4. Some of the bulbs come with adaptors that some other cars require (shown by the blue arrow). This Volvo installation does not require them. Take your plyers and cut them off. This will allow you to remove the base of the bulb case later on (shown by the red arrow). Now does this apply for the kit from DDM? I was looking on there site and didn't find anything for installation. I'm assuming its the same as sharps, chime in.

Can I ask a dumb question before I order? Everyone just putting these into the low beams only? Is there a reason or this? Could you do high beams? Would it be better to do high beams at 55w and lows at 35w? Ok, so I asked 5 total questions... ^_^

I'm doing 35W L and 55W H, there is no difference electrically between H and L, just when the Highs are on, there is simply more light

Highs are a waste of money since one you turn on your lows you will never use your highbeams again.

also another reason its a waste of money this will actually burn out quicker in the high beam due to the constant on off wich is not the best for ballast and bulbs.

put them in your lows first and then fogs and go from there.

trust me you wont waste your time with the highs .

just in the fogs alone your putting out more light then your stock lowbeams

Well since we're all paying ~$54...

Either way, this has nothing to do with the 'community,' they simply blew your price away even with your sale and in my short experience their customer service was perfectly fine and amiable...

It's not like people are turning away CJ for SSautochrome, I mean you're just distributing someone else's product...so when quality isn't a concern obviously price is going to be the driving factor.

So if I never gave an ounce of customer service ever again you'd be happy? Isn't retail by default distributing someone else's product?

For instance there is a local Ace Hardware in our town and as you may know Ace Hardware is typically franchised under a private owner's business name (in this instance it is called Pagano's Hardware). The service there is incredible and they will literally take time out of their day to help you. I'd much rather go there than Home Depot a few miles away as the service there is absolute crap, everything is unorganised, and to be honest they drive small excellent businesses out of business which in essence is driving people out of jobs and out of what he is she may have passion for. I'm not say big corporations are bad but when I want service I am going to pay for it because that person deserves it even though I can get the very same EXACT item down the street for almost certainly less!

Thanks for that. That is what I'm going to do, lows and fogs for now. Good idea to go 35w lows or 55w lows if they are going to be my only lights?

Oops wanted to add that I read on another site that is a good idea to put only HID lows in and then for the highs, just use some high quality halogen bulbs if you really wanted high beams.

But is your customer service so superior that it's worth >$30? This is hardly a face to face business relationship so it's not comparable but I do know exactly what you mean and agree in terms of Home Depot vs. Pagano's or in my case Zell's. But what service do you provide that they [DDM] don't? I expect them to warranty their products just as you do. Now if I ask for your help, etc., just as I am in our PMs, I'm looking to you as a fellow enthusiast and not as a business I'm dealing with.

And yes, retail is by default the distribution of someone else's things, but to argue that our community is flawed via being price-driven in terms of retail products is ridiculous. I am 100% behind you that VS is far too focused on the price of things when it comes to custom and high-end products but you're selling near plug & play HID kits where there is little to no concern over quality from piece to piece. Yes, hypothetically I (and others) would pay extra for the piece of mind that comes with dealing with people we know (though how many times has that backfired on VS) but their is a negligable difference between you warrantying my HIDs and DDM doing it (provided they don't F us, but they have a rather good reputation). What differences are there in 'your' customer service? If something breaks I don't see them being any more of a hassle to deal with then you (not to say you are a hassle), considering that they are direct to Apexcone. Again, I will pay more for a higher quality product and not more simply because of the people behind a product. People vary day to day and me paying more money isn't going to change that.

Nonetheless, you've been a great vendor here and have offered products at some of the best prices for a long time, but someone is always going to beat you eventually. Buying some HIDs somewhere else doesn't mean I'm (and others) not going to come to you with questions nor does it mean I'm not going to buy other things from you in the future, hell I believe I'm going to be PP'ing you in the very near future am I not? :P

Where is everyone getting $30 difference from? There is no longer a Live.com discount and my prices are almost comparable to DDM's. $59.95 plus about $15 for shipping is if I am correct $74.95. My price is $80 shipped. That looks to be only a $5.05 difference. Shipping in most cases is even higher.

To be honest my time is very valuable and offering customer service for www.sharphid.com is where most of it goes when I am working on it at all. This is a business for me and a way I earn a living and feed myself and put a roof over my head. I will help out this community just as I have done but in all honesty it is part of how I do business to earn business. If this community no longer wants to support what I have to offer then why should I spend any time at all offering something back? I'm not saying I am going to stop support but I do pose the question.

In regards to your "quality comparison" think of how many people now have failed My Depot kits because they were crap. He did offer a basic service but barely comparable. In regards to you "customer service" difference between me and Apexcone directly please let me know when they email you on a national holiday or weekend or even pickup their phone on a weekend or holiday? I personally can't call or get any sort of email response on those days and right now their email has a bounce back message saying that email is backed up so don't expect a response anytime soon. I also tried to call them on Friday throughout the day and didn't receive a single person on the phone.

I'm not looking for an argument because this is the plain truth. Take it as you will.
