Mbc With Me7?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Due to some boost "abnormalities" with my 2000 S70 AWD, I am now considering a MBC. I know they won't work to raise boost with ME7. But what if I only want stock levels? Reason I ask is this. My LPT is supposed to reach 8 psi or so stock. I'd be happy with that, as I only ever see 6 max. I also would like earlier and steadier boost (boost now fades at times and comes in very late during normal driving; only ever see boost pressure if I punch it quickly). For a little background, I've replaced all vacuum lines with silicone, fresh OEM TCV, fresh CBV diaphragm. I am so far out of ideas that I'm considering a MBC (even though I never liked the idea before). I'd love to hear from anyone who has used an MBC to run stock boost levels with an ME7 car. Any problems? MIL?

Thanks for any insight,

Joe

P.S. - While on the subject, Hallman makes a good unit I've read. Any ideas? Go with the Hallman ES or the Pro EX?

Tried one on my pop's S60 T5. It ran like a raped ape until we overboosted, then limped home. ME7 is tricky, it uses the ETM and BCS very methodically control the amount of boost based on the torque it can safely supply given the present operating conditions. If you're running out of ideas to regain the low end boost, might I suggest a couple of other maintenance routines. OEM Spark plugs, clean MAF, clean BCS. Has worked several times for the T5 when boost began lacking (assuming all vac hoses, intercooler pipes, and turbo devices CBV and Wastegate are sound).

Did you try to inspect the wastegate?
