JehovArob
Any chance you tinted-tails people want to post up some night-time lights-on pics? (Curious how much the tint affects light-output...)
Owned
Any chance you tinted-tails people want to post up some night-time lights-on pics? (Curious how much the tint affects light-output...)It all depends on how tinted they are. Light coats for a clean look won't hurt the output. At night you probably can't even tell my tails are tinted.

exexpat
VHT and polishedGratuitous pic (you can see a little of the tinted tail)Did I state my opinion on black and leaving the white/clear part? I like full tint and black/red (Ryan's and Petri's are hot), but black/white... ugh.
HtownTurboBrick
mine's completely visible at night, you can't tell its tinted. however theres ton's of cars around town that had "professionally" tinted tails that you can't see at night and i'm one of the people who almost wreck into them because they stop short and i can't see their brake lights.the full tint look isn't for me, it doesn't look right to me. i'm happy with what i have. HtownTurboBrick
Did you do your own? Or just tell the people doing it for you to not go too dark?yea, mine got VHT even tho i went against chuck's advice. It's actually 8 extremely light coats of VHT with 1000 grit wet sanding in between each coat. I even shot the lights in 2 parts because of running, i taped off the sides shot the face, finished let it dry, taped off the face and tilted the side to face up and shot that with very little overlap. you can't tell the light was sprayed separately. and theres no "dot-matrix" effect that chuck got doing his write up. the only thing i regret is not having them clear coated professionally. i cheaped out and cuz i was in a hurry to get them back on the car i used that cheesy dupont automotive clear spray. I'll probably strip them down in the summer and redo them again and get a proper clear coat.

(A brand of paint is what I'm seeing with a quick search...?)What do you mean by "the light was sprayed separately"? (The face?)What's a "dot-matrix" effect?Any idea what it would cost to just get the things done professionally?

Dartaynion
i just heard about how you could just paint the tailights using this special chemical show when you hits the breaks you can see through it. I thought that was pretty damn sick.
JehovArob
My landlord tints windows on the side. What do you think of getting him to put some window tint film on the tail lights?
