harleyhv
OkHere is the situation. Last august: installed Eibach / Koni FSD, changed everything (spring seats, top plates, bolts, bumpers, name it... all oem) & got the car alignedInstalled winter tires on my metis wheels at the end of october.Last week, while I had the exhaust installed, I asked for a tire rotation.(rear wheels with 1deg positive camber necessitating frequent rotation until I install IPD's rear camber kit)so far so good.Beginning of the week, noticed major ( and I mean car shaking major) vibrations in "heavy load acceleratiion"I thought it could be a un-balanced wheel.... so I had it checked yesterday. All wheels are fine, no adjustment needed...Just in case, rotate the wheels again.... Vibration under load is still there but not as drastic as before the last rotation..and there is no vaibration whatsoever while cruising (no load). What could this be?Steering rack play?Transmission arm issue? Any help would help.thanks
Joey P.
I''m going to say you have a bad front cv joint in the axle half shaft.
DonutsDemise
are you losing power when it vibrates? or is it like when you floor it in 5th gear going 30mph making it feel like a diesel truck? I would check your engine mounts/torque rods and bushings

Can even feel it (not as much) on the cruise control when it accelerates to keep up selected speed.

However, as far as I'm concern, this play was always there... could this be another cause?

Joey P.
I went with europartsdirect.com and purchased both front axles from them and they were reman type done by OP parts. I don't know who they are but I installed the axles and I've put 15,000 miles on them with no problems. The axles did seem to be of good quality, just not original Volvo parts. I usually stay away from reman non OEM parts like scan tech, and what not, but I just couldn't spend $600-$800 for axles at the time I did it. Best part is that I paid $200 for both from europartsdirect.com. So, the choice is yours, I went cheap on parts that may be reman and probably built in China, but I've had 0 problems. One of those little gambles, I guess.
harleyhv
UpdateI was able to reach Raxles.comEssentially, if you have a 1999+volvo, you are SOL with raxles.Reason being (if I understood correctly): * Raxles has the core * outer cv joint in the after market is only made in China and Raxles won't touch it. Seems to me that IPD is the only way to go other than OEM at the stealership.Other question:Do I need to replace the Drive Axle Seals when replacing the axle?http://www.fcpgroton.com/product-exec/prod...category_id/
