jediboytj
So after 5 years of blasting hard rock/metal, a speaker finally blew out My drivers door speaker is torn at the bottomNow personally, I love the sound my car has (as does everyone else who rides with me), so im not looking to "upgrade" necessarily. What would you guys suggest? What would be the cheapest route, but not in a way that will sacrifice the quality I had. OEM maybe? or something I can get at Best Buy?

Wagoneer855
I have two OEM front door speakers. I upgraded to JL audios right after I took ownership from my parents so the only music that's been listened through them is soft rock and easy listening PM if you're interested, I'll let em go for cheap.anything you buy is going to be a upgrade Maybe in quality of the cone, but the OEM premium speakers are actually quite decent. Fake-R
My best advice is to go aftermarket. Bestbuy sells Kappa's, get a pair of those. The have some of the lowest response of 5.25 speakers out there. I've got references right now, but I plan on replacing the rear crap with Kappa's soon enough. Wagoneer855
stick a real amp to them and tell me wich last more then half hr That doesn't matter when you're talking about sound quality. Look at the top-end speakers (and I'm talking about TOP-end home speakers). All paper cones. Best response by far.

And home speakers are totaly different then car speakers. were talking about car speakers not home speakersand the best stuff doesnt have a speaker at all there wire B)
mkc70
Pointless argument but I'll join in. Bestbuy sells Kappa's, get a pair of those. The have some of the lowest response of 5.25 speakers out there. I've got references right now, but I plan on replacing the rear crap with Kappa's soon enough.Personally I feel Infinity has a lousy sounding car speaker, the subs they use to make were a joke. (just an opinion)stick a real amp to them and tell me wich last more then half hrUsing an amplifier to power your speakers typically sends a higher quality signal to the speaker. Just because you use an amplifier does not mean the speaker will blow faster. Very common misconception, when your speaker starts to distort that you are sending too much power to the speaker. The opposite is true, you need more power to keep up with the volume you are trying to achieve. While the speaker is distorting the amp/radio is sending DC current to the speaker which typically smokes the voice coil. (double the volume you need 10x's the power)My advice is get what appeals to you. If that means the Volvo Dynaudio then ok, it is a good speaker brand bordering on Very good. Regardless most people just adjust the bass and treble up on the eq regardless of where it is at and thinks this sounds better than before.
