The Reverend
I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of two 10 inch crystal subs and crystal coax. I don't know how loud the system is going to be, so I am somewhat curious about whether or not I need to dampen the car. Bing says to wait, and I figure I might as well, but I was curious what your experiences were as far as adding subs and rattles. Are they audible on the inside? My coaxials are in kick panels, so I am not sure how those would affect the rattles. All I can say is that I hate it when I hear a car driving down the street and their trunk rattling so I don't want that.
Veneficus
I dampened my front two doors w/ one layer each.... I should do my back doors at some point and my trunk and trunk lid each have 2 layers around. I'm running a Kicker CVR at 200watts / voice coil and the only rattle that I have comes from the spolier and from something else I haven't been able to locate. I can't hear the rattle from the inside of the car and its very muffled from the outside (disregarding the spoiler which is another beast all to itself ). I'd say get your trunk done, it helps and the doors make a fairly large difference too, and it makes a nice solid thud sound when you shut your door also. Much more satisfying. I would recomend it. theunderlord
hah, yeah I have a '97 854 and I still say do it.←Rev, My whole trunk is covered in dynamat. It's helped a bunch, but there are still mini-rattles, although you can't really hear the rattles on the outside of the car. Definately get the Dynamat licence plate piece that sticks to the back of your plate.. that'll help big time. I agree with bing tho... wait and see how loud and where you problem areas are before possibly spending big money that you don't need to.

The Reverend
The only way I will mat it is if I can hear rattles on the inside. I mean, if there is a minor rattling problem when someone is standing in front of my trunk, then I will skip it as long as i can't hear it inside. As far as the lisense plate, I don't think mine will move at all as it is... it is just so tightly screwed on there. Plus that dynamat plate is ugly and I think it kind of invites thiefs. My trunk already closes with a thud too. With all that said, I will probably have major rattles just to spite me :)

Rev... the "dynamat plate" is just a piece of dynamat that's pre-cut to fit and stick BEHIND your plate... its' not that uber gay license plate holder that says "I've got better sound" .... Works well too, even though it might seem ghetto at first.
