I'd just be real sure that you have full seat travel with it in there... I mounted the amp on a piece of wood that was roughly the same size as the under seat well. Worked really well. When the seat is slid forward, about half of the unit is exposed. It has some problem with the right channel - a loose connection somewhere. I don't like it in that location, because the cartridge comes out right on the floor where dust and debris can get into the unit (found a rock in the cartridge when I bought the car). Another thing I don't like as I said is that when the seat slides forward the unit is exposed (especially to feet). With no moving parts you could probably safely place an amp under there - just make sure the connections are not exposed to feet. PyROZen Posted October 21, 2004 Report Share Posted October 21, 2004 under the glovebox would be a good spot. i have my alpine changer hanging under the glovebox and its a perfect spot. just high enuf so people don't kick it and close enough to change cartridges while driving. if you point the amp the right way you could have you passenger adjust your amp settings just a thought... I'm going to go with the under the seat option... probably pull up the carpet a bit and put a small piece of plywood under it so I can secure it... then just wire it all up. In the past I have used screws to go through the carpet into the body. The amp is an Xtant 404m. It is not a small amp by any means. If the seat is move full forward then the amp is exposed, but the floor mat covers it up. I have used this amp in several cars and it has never overheated with the floor mat covering it up.If the passenger seat is non-powered then there is alot of room for a very tall amp. How effectiv is the velco? Would I have to worry at all about my subs (2 10's) coming loose while I am driving? How about the amp? I do like the idea of being able to remove my system if needs be, but if I am at all putting it at risk if, lets say, I got into an accident, then I would rather mount with screws. What do you think? What do you think?←IMO... The velcro would be cool to use for the amp... (which is nice 'cause no drilling required) however... on yer sub.. I woudn't trust it. you havfta stop fast/get in fender bender, inertia is going to take yer subs on a ride. (Remember ; Force = Mass * Acceleration) I think a hard mounting option is the way to go for your subs... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
PyROZen Posted October 21, 2004 Report Share Posted October 21, 2004 actually some lady rearended me about a week ago, no damage was done but the sub didn't move an inch. I only used the "hook" side of the velcro and stuck it to the carpet in the trunk. It takes a good hard tug or two to dislodge it from the floor once its been stuck for a month.
