vegasjetskier
Could be a bad level sensor in the bottom of the coolant tank.
neworleans
is it easier to change it?? can i do it by myself?
bes4420
I changed one...very easy. I didn't even take the fluid out of the resevoir. It took about 5 minutes.

Guest CHECKSIX
Sorry about the previous messed up post Before you change out the sensor consider this: When the car is cold the fluid contracts and it leaves the level sensor low enough to trigger the warning. You mentioned this goes off later. Well as the fluid warms up it expands just enough to trip off the sensor. From my "arm chair" perspective, it just sounds like you are an ounce or 2 low on coolant. Next time the system is cold, add fluid up to a little beyond the min line and report back to us what happens. BTW I know as this is exactly what happened to me, Ha Ha!!!Good Luck! neworleans
thank you very much for your time and help.. I will do what you say. I bought some coolant fluid from wallmart that says for all cars, and when I opened the hood to add some, it says only volvo coolant... would that be a problem if I add from this fluid??? thanks again.. JesterKB
thank you very much for your time and help.. I will do what you say. I bought some coolant fluid from wallmart that says for all cars, and when I opened the hood to add some, it says only volvo coolant... would that be a problem if I add from this fluid??? thanks again..At this point ya have a choice. If you only plan to add a few ounces and you don't live where it gets really cold, just add water. If you add the Wal-Mart special, It won't be enough to make much difference. I've read a lot of posts on antifreeze, and my conclusion was to run the Volvo stuff when I did a flush of my system. If you just flushed and everything is new, then get the stuff they put in when it was flushed. If not see the above 2 choices. There are some incompatibilities between brands of antifreeze so use some caution. I too have seen some antifreeze advertise they are compatible with all type and colors, but to tell the truth I've not quite believed it, but that's just me!Jerry01 V70 T5a

BillAileo
If you don't have Volvo antifreeze on hand, Zerex G-05 antifreeze is about as close to it as your likely to find locally.

T5Chris
I agree. Bad sensor. Try fcpgroton.com. Not too hard to find, I bought mine on ebay. If you're going to top off with water, use distilled only.
