'98-2000 S/v70 In-dash 3 Disc Radio With Amp

I picked up a factory in-dash 3 disc CD/radio with factory external amp which mounts by the heater core.

Does anyone know what the watt rating is on the amp? Do I have to run the amp with the radio? Not that I'm going to do that, but would like to know if I could.

Thanks!

You WILL need an amp for an SC-900 or SC-901. It connects to a 6 pin DIN marked "AMP".

A stock amp is not needed. With a DIN to RCA cable, you can use almost any 4 ch amp out there.

Do you have an amp or the Dolby module? The Dolby box connects with a DIN cable, no other leads.

It's an outboard Dolby processor that was an option for cars with a center channel dash speaker.

It's stock location is in the center console behind the HU.

Looked at it again last night and the deck is a SC-900. ;) Thanks for the heads up that an amp needs to be used. I don't have the center channel in my car, but I don't need since this deck didn't come with the Dolby.

<_< Any guesses on the watts on the amp?

i'm going to guess it's a 4x40 or 4x50....I think that was stock on the '98R Wagon (I'm guessing that is where it came from?). BUT if you got it out of a C70 and it has the big amp it's 4x100.

I think this came out of a '98 V70R cuz someone wrote on the radio "98V70R" How big of an amp are you talking from the C70? Does it fit behind the dash? This one couldn't fit under the seat cuz of it's shape. Danny said it fits by the heater core.

'98 R comes with a 4 x 50w under the pass seat.

If it fits behind the radio, I'd guess it's a 4 x 40w.

I'm hoping it's a 4x50, but 4x40 is not bad either. I'm just trying to have a clean set up in my car. Thanks for the input!

The 4 x 100 is actually a rebadged Alpine V-12 series amp. It is pretty big.

You might be able to shoehorn it under a passenger seat, but it would be really tight!

I've been keeping an eye on 5 channel amps, but there are a ton of ways to go if you wanna

break away from stock amplification. I'm probably just gonna add a sub with it's own amp.

The stock SC-901 (Also an Alpine) and 4 x 50w amp sound pretty good as they sit,

but there are days that I'd like a little lower bottom end, and the four 6 1/2" stock woofers

will only take you so far. Still, stone stock it's not too shabby for an OEM system. :)

 I guess this is NOT the C70 amp! Do you think this one is 4x50?

I've done the 5 channel amp with Alpine HU, processor and sub. Don't want it anymore. Just want to put this in and keep the sub. I'd like to find a good sub amp. Sounds like the SC-901, and hopefully SC-900, is a good set up. Good luck with getting a sub!

Nice set up ;) Do the front doors take 5.25?

I have a c70 amp for sale ($85+shipping) and the center speaker ($55+ship) if you're interested.

Post the part # for the amp. 4x50W was a bit more common than the 4x40W, but I still see them these days almost just as frequently as another.

Good idea!

Part# 6816302. Thanks man!
