Young Burnsy
So my best friend and I rotated my tires today. Here's what we found. He told me I need new brakes. I believe he is correct. He also told me the marks on the rotors have to do with heat... something about internal cracks I dunno. hahaAnyway looked up prices on iPD rotors are like 70+ each. Pads are like 34 for a set. I just want to do OEM. OEM stops fast enough for me .What do you guys think? Is iPD the best choice for replacement OEM parts or should I go through another retailer or Jamie/Doug?Haha and should I paint the calipers? What color? I was thinking red. I should have made a poll haha.
Black Betty
replace at 2mm, generally when the pad backing is larger than the pad material you replace, yours look ok for now
DonutsDemise
your brakes look like they have no meat left. i replace mine when the backing is as thick or thicker than the pad. your pad is about half as thick as the backing from that perspective. T5power
go for some R1comcepts rotors... about 200 for a set of four. zinc plated to prevent rust too. there's a topic on them in the performance section. i've had mine for about 13k miles/a year and a half and they practically wear like iron, and they fucking STOP too. they look sweet too
Young Burnsy
Alright Corey, 200 for a set of four is good.ButttI'd have to use performance pads? And they would wear faster? And would I have to replace the rotors everytime I do the pads? Also I don't know if it is safe to assume what works on the S70 will indeed work as well on the S60?How much were your pads btw? T5power
Alright Corey, 200 for a set of four is good.ButttI'd have to use performance pads?nah, any kind will doAnd they would wear faster?nope. the ones i got 14k miles/1.5 years ago have little implications of wear on them, maybe 1-2/32's worn down. not bad at all, and the pads(which suck btw) have hardly worn down, probably about 2/3 of meat left on themAnd would I have to replace the rotors everytime I do the pads?nope. usually you would have to replace PADS before the rotors, pads wear quicker. Also I don't know if it is safe to assume what works on the S70 will indeed work as well on the S60?not sure but safest bet would be to follow this link and scroll all the way down, the bottom two choices are what you(really) want:http://store.r1concepts.com/store/search.a...p;submit=SearchHow much were your pads btw?MY pads were about 70, but i won't be getting them again... PBR ceramics give off WAY too much brake dust. go for semi-metallic pads and you should be set

Young Burnsy
Is there any other way I can tell what size rotors I have besides physically measuring them?
T5power
Is there any other way I can tell what size rotors I have besides physically measuring them?i don't think so. 2001 was the year they had several different brake size options IIRC. you may just have to measure. not that hard B)
