Che'_Moderator
SOME INTERESTING STATS: There were 39 combat related killingsin Iraq during the month of January.....In the fair city of Detroit there were35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq. When some claim President Bush shouldn'thave started this war, state the following ... FDR...led us into World War II.Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year. Truman...finished that war and started one in Korea,North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year. John F. Kennedy...started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.Vietnam never attacked us. Johnson...turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year. Clinton...went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent,Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platterthree times by Sudan and did nothing.Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions. In the two years since terrorists attacked usPresident Bush has ...liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida,put nuclear inspectors in Libya,Iran and North Koreawithout firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered300,000 of his own people. The Democrats are complainingabout how long the war is taking, but...It took less time to take Iraqthan it took Janet Reno to take theBranch Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation. We've been looking for evidence ofchemical weapons in Iraq for lesstime than it took Hillary Clinton tofind the Rose Law Firm billing records. It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Divisionand the Marines to destroy the MedinaRepublican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy tocall the police after his Oldsmobilesank at Chappaquiddick. It took less time to take Iraq than it tookto count the votes in Florida!!!!

Deltablade
Chicago averaged just under 50 homicides per month in 2003. What he's trying to say is that if you think about it, although about 1000 soldiers have died in Iraq since the war's onset, its not really that bad. By the way, I am in no way devaluing the service of our soldiers. I am eternally grateful for those who are willing to die for the United States.Just some reaserch I did.I hate to make people, especially our servicemen into numbers but:The first year of war in Iraq (March 2003-March2004) 547 U.S. soldiers died. http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2003/iraq/forces/casualties/In the calender year of 2003, the Chicago police reported 599 homicides.http://msnbc.msn.com/id/3855774/Just something to think about. matt1122
Point: A soldier in Iraq has about an equal chance of being murdered to anyone in chicago or detroit.
