Jared, who did the $1K repairs recently ? RJ ?

Shame that the passenger side was hit like that, panels are hard to find in that color and I'm sure Erie Vovo would have liked to get their hands on them.

Lemme know how things progress with your insurance company.

Between Richard's and I, yeah. I had pulled the old turbo twice and rebuilt it...bought a new one, swapped, then took it over there to have them clean it all up amongst other things. They're cheap as hell so my biggest cost was the turbo heh.

I will, I think I'm pretty settled on the idea of a saff C70 but I still have to see what's up with the insurance boys. Too bad for the holidays, they're gonna take their sweet time and I head back to school Monday. :( Didn't think I'd ever go the Volvo route again but the simplicity of swapping over all the parts and the fact that the car saved my life has had me rethink all that. Not to mention c70 + coilovers + rims = sex. But we'll see..

My adjuster has to write the salvage company a letter just so I can get my wheels back. Can't take any other parts...brand new 60 trim, fmic kit, exhaust, new rear sway amongst a million other things. And, apparently Geico doesn't have an option to buy the car back?? WTF ppl.

Geico sucks, case and point... There has to be some way to buy the car back through the insurance company, that's absolute BS if you can't!

i think they are just jerking you around, another option is to just get the car back and take nothing from insuranc.

No option to the buy the car back? WTF? Any further explanation on that?

Good luck man!!

My wife, a 12-year Geico "associate" says it's not a Geico policy, but a Florida state law that forbids the insurer from selling a salvaged vehicle to the former owner. Apparently, it has to go through a "salvage licensed seller." She thought it sounded odd...until the moment I mentioned "Florida." Florida has some really odd insurance laws in comparison to the other 49 states, and this seems to be one of them. Since she's not at work, she cant look up the specific statute right now, but recommended a Google search for "insurance + Florida + salvage + title."

However, you should be able to get your non-stock parts back if you can replace them with the stock parts your policy covers. She adds, "Tell the Volvo guys that they need to tell the insurance company if you do $1K or more in modifications from stock if you expect them to be covered in a claim (and expect your rate to go up too)." They get claims all the time for heavily modified cars that are only insured as stock and the owners wonder why their $5K rims and other bling aren't covered when the car gets boosted.

If you want, send me a PM and I'll have her look into the claim on Monday.
