roktbox
End of the year deals got me off my butt and perhaps saying sayonara to my trusty '98 V70 T5M w/ ipd Stage III and 202K. Love this car, but it's time to part ways although I feel like a cheating husband. The new V70 is uber nice, but leaves me feeling a bit unsatisfied when I romp on it. I know it will be a fine car, it'll look good with a wing and some 18's, and the lease opportunity is too good to pass up, but ......... the SAAB TurboX is getting blown out at my local dealer for 40% off MSRP and it hauls *ss, has latest gen Haldex AWD, paddle shift, 13" brakes under 18" wheels, etc. Limited edition. So what's a guy to do? The Volvo makes me smile with style. The SAAB takes me back to my '88 SPG days and keeps me closes to the performance of my T5. Just roll cool in the new Volvo or get hooligan with the kids in the SAAB? Penciled out with all $$$ involved icomparing lease vs purchase w/ mileage and expenses factored in the SAAB is the better deal vs sticker price, but I have the Volvo thing going on ..... Analysis paralysis.
dmelviØØ7
I would stay away from Saab, US dealers are closing left and right. What good is a warranty when there is no one to honor it?
harleyhv
would stay away too... bd resale value, more trouble maintenance wise.... but if you really want one.... lease it?
roktbox
Will likely lease the V70 and put what would have been the Saab's down payment into a CD and try to keep rolling it over for the lease duration. Should have the residual in hand if it comes to buying it outright. Hopefully Volvo will have another R wagon in the lineup or at least the T6 motor option by then. I had an '88 SPG that didn't cost more to maintain than any other car I've ever had. Had to sell it to a man with more means than I when it needed an entire steering rack at 125K, but I loved that funky 900 body.
