Also... the car is lowered... the winter tires are 205/55/16

Would I run into this problem like the 850R's had? http://volvospeed.com/Repair/2055516.php

Didn't '99 R's originally come with 16" tires though?

does your '99R have 280mm rotors or 302mm rotors?

if 280mm, they will fit. if 302mm, they will not.

16" will fit, just not Columbia. Perfo and Satelite back spacing will only clear the 302mm brakes and '99-'00 had them.

:( crap!

How about the steel wheels from the Tire Rack listed in the winter tire packages... anyone running them? Anyone looking to unload a set of Perfo's or Satelite's... quickly... anc CHEAP? :D

I think steel 16" will run in to the same offset issue... You may be able to run those rims if you use spaces, I don't know the offset of Columbia or steels, but my Satelites and Perfos are 43mm.

Just spoke with "Arnold" at the Tire Rack... the steel wheels they sell in their "packages" run a 42mm offset... he's "claims" if they are on their "fit list" they will work. Are the Columbusia'sesses 40mm offset... and if so is that why they rub?

(sigh)

Columbas are also 43mm offset.

It's not really the offset that causes the problem, rather its the shape of the back face of the spokes - hence Perfos will be fine.

Your R should have 302mm front rotors, and with the caliper spaced outward further than it would be with the 280mm rotors (afterall, its the same caliper), it simply wont clear the back face of the spokes on Columbas.

As stated with the bigger rotors they won't fit and your R should have the bigger ones. An easy way to tell is look at the hub of the rotor and see if the min. thickness stamping is 23mm or 25mm if it's 23 then ok if 25 then they won't work. However an exception is someone could have put the wrong rotors on and the wheels still won't fit. I have seen this(wrong rotors)

The steel wheels and Dunlops from Tire Rack fit just fine.

The car is almost totally black now with the wheels... now it just needs some "cop spec" dog dish hub caps to complete the whole CIA "covert op" look.
