Matts 850 GLT
Can anyone diagnose this??I feel a clunk/knock through the steering wheel when I release the brakes to set off. It does it forwards and backwards but not when turning so I am ruling out tie rods.Could it be the axle or motor mounts how do I check them?Matt

I could see my steering column "move" almost imperceptable, but there.I thought it was subframe bushings, but turned out to be my control arms shifting,pulling/pushing my tie rod ends ,hence steer wheel! If it's just clunk 'noise', check your column u-joint,etc.HTH. erikv11
could be many things but +1 on the control arm bushings, a clunk when moving from rest is a classic sign when they are bad.
