Hilton
I've got two sets of lifters. Looking at the bottoms of them, one seems to be shallow, one seems to be deep. Is it possible that the shallow ones are just full of oil? Thanks for your help.
Keaton85
I'm interested now! I didnt realize there were two different types of hydraulic lifters for these cars? P1 vs P2? Youve got my attention.

Hilton
No, I thought that too. All 20 of each are the same. I'm positive I didn't get them mixed up. Oddly, the heads were different too. Check this out.
Hoosier Daddy
some parts, like pcv, seem to be different after serial # 330413. could this be related? what engine is that top head from?
Hilton
The top head is from a 2.3 HPT, the bottom head is from a 2.4 lpt. I've in the process of replacing my 2.4 lpt block, injectors, ecu, head, lifters, camshafts, with the 2.3 hpt version. I already had a 15g, so that'll be appropriate too. Except for a SMALL increase in boost with a MBC, I'm going to leave it stock... except for the 3" turbo back exhaust.I didn't decide to do this just for fun. The 2.4 block cracked. Quick! Everybody go pull out a lifter!

Keaton85
Not a 93 either one by chance?Nope, the 93 heads are noticeably different then any other 850/X70 head. These two heads are just slightly different, nothing that will effect anything. Hilton
I don't think so. The 2.3 is out of "Uncle Rob's" car. I think it's a 1996 855.

T5gruppy
Which one is this? The solid? P2?yea thats a solid lifter. On the newer cars you have to check clearances between the cam lobes and the lifters (tappets). And there are a ton of different sizes to full fill the clearance requirements. Keaton85
That really sucks, another negative point for the P2 cars. Can you use the P1 hydraulic lifters on the P2 heads is the question?
