Cal3thousand
I have 2.5" piping and a suitcase Magnaflow in the stock location. I want it to be quieter, so I'm adding a muffler.Quick question:Is there ANY reason why I would go with the 14851 over the 14835?14835:Inlet/Outlet Size: 3in./4in.Body Shape: 5in.x8in. OvalCore Size: 3in.Body Length: 14in.14851:Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.25in./4in.Body Shape: 5in.x8in. OvalCore Size: 2.5in.Body Length: 14in.
nolanator
what?! what!!! ...oh this isnt at all what i thought it would be...that title is deceiving anyway obviously if the difference is in the diameter the larger will offer less restriction, but you will have to step up your piping

mune237
I'm sure they have a 2.5" inlet muff that should work??????EDIT: Then again maybe not...go with the 3" inlet 14835

I used to live in VTA and SB, so I'm up there every once in a while.why make it harder to install? It's not going to make any difference if the rest of your system is 2.5" get a 2.5" in with a 3" or 4" out.

Should be $50 to install, since the have to cut off the old tip, and flare the pipe and weld.
samadkins29
You said you wanted it to be less noisy. Adding a 3" muffler with a 4" outlet will be the opposite. All magnaflows are are glasspacks. Eventually the glasspack gets burned out. You want less noise, then you need a smaller opening.
7 VII 7
why not 2.5 in and 2.5 out since you have 2.5 piping? :arob:
Cal3thousand
why not 2.5 in and 2.5 out since you have 2.5 piping? Kind find one I like... like i said earlier. You said you wanted it to be less noisy. Adding a 3" muffler with a 4" outlet will be the opposite. All magnaflows are are glasspacks. Eventually the glasspack gets burned out. You want less noise, then you need a smaller opening. But currently, I have only one muffler in the stock location going to a tip. I'm adding this muffler at the end. Are you saying it won't have any sound reduction effects?

Are you saying it won't have any sound reduction effects?yes it will. i think what he is trying to say is if you were to do everything you want to do with smaller piping as opposed to larger piping, the effects would be quieter, but regardless of which route you take, you are going to produce less noise with an additional muffler than you are now
