ozzimark
yeah, one bird wasn't enough to break it, just bend one blade. i guess the harmonics of the second bird is what did the engine in, but who knows, i haven't actually studied this :P
Boost3237
Just a thought, and perhaps some jet engine gurus can tell me otherwise, but why not put a very fine grill over the front of the engines to prevent birds from getting sucked inside? Granted it might just julienne cut the bird.first thing that came to mind is at altitude moisture could form and then freeze causing a massive reduction if not full blockage in airflow
Serge
they say he is a hero... but I do not think so... inst his job to keep the plane up and do what it takes to keep it from crashing and killing people?! Love it.

Granted it might just julienne cut the bird.wouldnt work, the bird would now just be wrapped nicely in wire mesh when ingested by the engine. The massive amount of air sucked into those engines would rip the mesh apart with a bird chilling on it.
7 VII 7
Go back to watching Fox David.I'm sure you would have rather of seen the plane land in a Jewish neighborhood instead of the river.god, you are stupid! :huh:the term HERO is thrown around so loosely now... its meaning is so diluted it is ridiculousif the pilot carried 8 people on his back and then saved a puppy from drowning while the dog was having a heart attack that would be a herobut a pilot doing his job? give me a break
