Later Style Bevel Gear In 2000?

Hello everyone,

In my quest for a bevel gear for my S70, I have found several from '02 models. Question is, will a later gear drop into my 2000? I know the gear ratio is the same. I know the bolt pattern is the same also. I am just curious about the axle shaft hole size, prop shaft flange, coupler splines, etc. Has anyone here done this with success? Any input is greatly appreciated.

P.S. - I know most don't recommend a used unit, but I can't really spring for a new one. My wife is scheduled for an induced labor on Tuesday and I've been laid off since October. Great timing, eh? :)
